DSO Spotlight - Natalie Davey

“As a sepsis survivor, chronic pain has been part of my story for over a decade. Sharing stories of that pain has been surprisingly useful in building bridges with others whose creative work is informed by their own challenges.”

- Natalie Davey, Producer/Writer, VP of Ceres Productions

“As a creative producer and professor, I spend a lot of time with the camera on telling stories. Meeting with potential partners to move projects through development into production requires it. For most of my Ceres Productions Zoom meetings, what people on the other side of the camera don’t know about me is that, as a sepsis survivor, chronic pain has been part of my story for over a decade.

Over time, I have come to find that sharing stories of that pain has been surprisingly useful in building bridges with others whose creative work is informed by their own challenges. Networks have been brought to life because of a shared sense of empathetic knowing. All the more reason for me to keep telling stories like The Nothing Club, the Rocket Fund Canada/CMF-funded disability-forward kids series that Ceres Productions is excited to get out into the world.

From crew to cast, this experience came out of possibilities inherent in authentically lived and shared stories. Ceres Productions is excited to have the DSO community’s support as we bring this delightful series to audiences everywhere via YouTube and JustWatchMe.tv

Co-founder of Ceres Productions, Natalie Davey is a writer, producer & PhD educator focused on telling badass and tender stories. Her work spans film, TV, podcast & live events.
