Widen the Frame

How can we build productions where all people thrive? Insights from the Disabled Producers Lab.

About the report

Incubated by Women in View and developed by the National Screen Institute, the Disabled Producers Lab was created to support disabled producers who experience gender-based marginalization. Rather than asking disabled producers to adapt to existing industry structures, the lab sought to identify and challenge systemic barriers and explore alternative approaches to production that better support the needs of all creatives and crew.

Drawing on the experiences, insights and expertise of the lab's producers, presenters and specialists, Widen the Frame challenges the industry to broaden its understanding of accessibility.

Through practical examples, reflections and recommendations, the report examines the barriers to accessibility within film production and highlights opportunities to build more inclusive, sustainable and accessible working environments. By putting these recommendations into action, the screen industry can move toward a future where all bodies and minds can thrive.
